The Lightning Boots are a pre-Hardmode accessory and the direct upgrade to the Spectre Boots. They grant the following effects while equipped:

The ability to sprint, allowing the player to reach maximum running speed faster. The player will leave behind a visual trail of dust clouds as they sprint.
Increased maximum movement speed to 35 mph (25.67 tiles/second).
The ability to hold ↷ Jump in midair to fly for a total of 1.17 seconds. While flying, the boots emit a visual cloud trail.

If the player runs into a wall with a 1-block opening in the floor next to the wall, the player will sometimes fall through.
The Lightning Boots are extremely useful for cases that involve lots of dodging such as the fight against the Eye of Cthulhu or The Twins. They are also useful when fighting the Wall of Flesh using the bridge strategy, especially in Expert Mode(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions).
When stacked with Flying Carpet and/or Wings, Lightning Boots prove to be very useful.
Stacking with Amphibian Boots will slow the player's speed down to 30 mph. This will not happen if the Lightning boots are in any accessory slot below the Amphibian Boots.
