The Obsidian Skull is a pre-Hardmode immunity accessory that grants +1 defense and immunity to the Burning debuff inflicted upon contact with Meteorite, Hellstone, Hellstone Bricks, or Ancient Hellstone Bricks. It does not grant immunity to lava or fire-based attacks.

In For the worthy(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) and Get fixed boi(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) worlds, the Obsidian Skull also protects against the Burning debuff inflicted by contact with Crispy Honey Blocks.

Notes

  • The Obsidian Skull can be worn in a social accessory slot. (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) When worn, it gives the player a unique appearance.
  • If the player equips a helmet, it will cancel out the Obsidian Skull's appearance, even if the helmet reveals a little bit of the player's face. This can be remedied by wearing the Familiar Wig, which will override the helmet and make the Obsidian Skull visible, so long as it is toggled to be such in the equipment menu. Another exception can be seen when the player is wearing Bunny Ears while having the Obsidian Skull equipped.
  • When the player equips an Obsidian Skull (or its upgrades) or benefits from the Obsidian Skin buff, the Dangersense buff will no longer highlight Hellstone, Hellstone Bricks, and Meteorite.
