Gold armor is a pre-Hardmode armor set consisting of the Gold Helmet, Gold Chainmail, and Gold Greaves. Crafting a full set requires a total of (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) 75 / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) 90 Gold Bars ((Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) 300 / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) 360 Gold Ore). The full set grants 16 defense while equipped.

Its alternate ore counterpart is the Platinum armor.

The Ancient Gold Helmet is functionally identical to and interchangeable with the Gold Helmet. The Ancient Gold Helmet has a 1/100 (1%) chance of being dropped by Skeletons and Spore Skeletons(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions), and can also be obtained by dropping a Gold Helmet into Shimmer(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions).

Notes

  • The Ancient Gold Helmet has the same sprite that the Gold Helmet had before 1.0.3, thus the term "Ancient".
  • The Ancient Gold Helmet is available even if a world generated with Platinum Ore.

Tips

  • Due to its high ore requirement, the player can choose to skip this armor set. The next tier of armor is usually available before the player can get enough Gold to craft the armor set.

History

  • Desktop 1.4.1: Gold Bars needed to craft the Gold Helmet, Gold Chainmail, and Gold Greaves respectively decreased from 25/35/30 to 20/30/25.
  • Desktop 1.0.3:
    • Set bonus increased from 2 defense to 3 defense in order to match the previously incorrect tooltip.
    • Armor graphics changed.
