The Star Veil is a Hardmode accessory that combines the functions of the Star Cloak and the Cross Necklace, spawning falling star projectiles and increasing the length of the invincibility frames granted when the player is hurt.

  • The falling star effects from the Star Cloak, Mana Cloak(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions), Bee Cloak, and Star Veil do not stack with each other. The quantity and damage of falling stars from the effect will not be affected by having multiple equipped.
  • The Star Veil's invincibility frame-increasing effect does not stack with the Cross Necklace.
  • The increase of the invincibility frame is different under different conditions:
    • By default, it increases the invincibility frame from 0.67 seconds (2/3 of a second) to 1.33 seconds (4/3 seconds).
      • If taking exactly 1 damage, the invincibility frame is increased from 0.33 seconds (1/3 of a second) to 0.67 seconds (2/3 of a second).
    • When stacked with the Black Belt, Master Ninja Gear, Brain of Confusion(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions), and the Shadow Dodge(Old-gen console and 3DS versions)/Holy Protection(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) buff, it extends the dodge invincibility period by 0.67 seconds (2/3 of a second) to a full 2 seconds.

  • Both of its constituent parts are unique drops from Mimics.


  • The Star Veil is recommended for melee players, who are more likely to take damage than ranged or magic classes.



  • Desktop 1.4.1:
    • Stars now deal 75 damage and have 25 armor penetration.
      • This damage is multiplied by 2× in Expert Mode, and 3× in Master Mode (the armor penetration remains unchanged).
    • Now uses local immunity frames, will not interfere with other piercing projectiles.
