Iron armor is a pre-Hardmode armor set consisting of the Iron Helmet, Iron Chainmail, and Iron Greaves. Crafting a full set requires a total of 60 Iron Bars (180 Iron Ore). The full set grants 9 defense while equipped.

Its alternate ore counterpart is the Lead armor.

The Ancient Iron Helmet is functionally identical to and interchangeable with the Iron Helmet. The Ancient Iron Helmet has a 1/100 (1%) chance of being dropped by Skeletons and Spore Skeletons, and can also be obtained by dropping an Iron Helmet into Shimmer.

Trivia

  • The Ancient Iron Helmet resembles the Bucket while equipped.
  • The Ancient Iron Helmet has the same sprite that the Iron Armor Helmet had prior to the 1.0.3 update, thus the term "Ancient".

History

  • Desktop 1.4.1: Iron Bars needed to craft the Iron Helmet, Iron Chainmail, and Iron Greaves respectively decreased from 20/30/25 to 15/25/20.
  • Desktop 1.2:
    • Sprites updated.
    • Added Ancient Iron Helmet with old sprite of Iron Helmet.
  • Desktop 1.1: Graphics variant for female characters added.
  • Desktop 1.0.3:
    • Set bonus increased from 1 defense to 2 defense in order to match the previously incorrect tooltip.
    • Armor graphics changed.
