Masks are vanity items dropped by all non-event bosses, as well as those from the Old One's Army(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions). They are worn in the social head slot.

Each boss has a 1/7 (14.29%) chance to drop its own mask in all difficulties, with the following exceptions:

  • The Skeletron Mask has a 1/3 (33.33%) chance to drop from Skeletron's Treasure Bag.
  • The Dark Mage Mask has a 1/7 (14.29%) chance (tier 1) or 1/14 (7.14%) chance (tier 3) to drop from the Dark Mage.
  • The Ogre Mask has a 1/7 (14.29%) chance (tier 2) or 1/14 (7.14%) chance (tier 3) to drop from the Ogre.

Notes

  • The Lunatic Cultist Mask is arguably the most tedious to obtain, not because of the difficulty of the Lunatic Cultist's boss fight, but because it is impossible to farm it without spawning in and completing the Lunar Events likely multiple times.
  • After updating to a Desktop version Desktop 1.3-equivalent, the Ocram Mask became unobtainable on Console version Console.
    • Any Ocram Mask already existing in character inventories or worlds was converted into a Lunatic Cultist Mask in 1.4.0.1(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions).
    • It is impossible to obtain on the Nintendo Switch version Nintendo Switch version, as Ocram was never available on this version.
  • Three of the masks have animations: The King Slime, Queen Slime(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions), and Moon Lord(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) Masks will move around when the player moves left or right.
