The Gold Water Strider is a harmless critter. It is a golden recolor of the ordinary Water Strider, with a 1/400 (0.25%) chance of spawning in place of the ordinary version.

The Gold Water Strider has only 5 health and no defense, and can be damaged by other enemies and players.

The Gold Water Strider can be caught with any Bug Net to be carried around in the inventory and released later, or crafted into animated decorative furniture (Gold Water Strider Cage). Once crafted, the Gold Water Strider cannot be released again, unless the furniture item is de-crafted via Shimmer(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions). The Gold Water Strider itself or the crafted furniture can be sold for 10 GC.

The Gold Water Strider can be used as bait for fishing, with 50% bait power.

It is one of the few entities that can be detected by the Lifeform Analyzer or its upgrades.

  • The Gold Water Strider can be considered to be the hardest to find and rarest golden critter, due to the overly specific spawning conditions of the Water Strider and the already miniscule gold critter spawn chance.
  • The BestiaryBestiary entry for the Gold Water Strider: "Rarely, critters are found coated entirely in gold! They are worth great coin to shopkeepers and fish absolutely love golden bait!"
