Not to be confused with Black Recluse.

The Wall Creeper is a pre-Hardmode enemy that can be found in and around Spider Nests in the Cavern layer, mostly during pre-Hardmode. Wall Creepers are spider-like enemies capable of climbing background walls as well as (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) through platforms, but revert to acting like fighter enemies when there are no background walls for them to climb on.

Notes

  • They can be found in large quantities in Spider Nests. These caves can be identified by large amounts of Cobwebs surrounding the cave's walls.
  • On the Desktop version Desktop version, Console version Console version, and Mobile version Mobile version, Wall Creepers can still spawn, albeit rarely, in Hardmode. On the Old-gen console version Old-gen console and 3DSNintendo 3DS version versions, Black Recluses completely replace them once Hardmode starts. This means that in these versions, Wall Creepers, as well as their enemy banner will be rendered unobtainable once Hardmode begins in that current world.
  • Like all spiders, Wall Creepers cannot travel through a 2-tile wide shaft.
  • They can crawl through one-tile wide/tall holes in background walls.

Trivia

  • Despite the in-game variant being a spider, in real life, the wallcreeper is a small passerine bird found throughout the high mountains of the Palearctic from southern Europe to central China.
  • A quote of the Skeleton Merchant(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) suggests that he may have become skeletal due to this spider.
  • The BestiaryBestiary entry for the Wall Creeper: "They have eight legs, eight eyes, and eight ways to cocoon and feast upon an unsuspecting victim."

History

  • Desktop 1.3.5: Fixed Wall Creeper dropping gore when Blood and Gore is off.
