A Gender Change Potion in use.

The Gender Change Potion is a pre-Hardmode potion that allows the player to swap their character style between male and female. Hurt sounds and equipment sprites change accordingly. The effect lasts until another Gender Change Potion is used.

Notes

Although some NPC dialogue lines do change depending on the player's gender, like the Stylist's dialogue, gender otherwise has no impact on game mechanics.
On use, a helix of blue and pink particles will surround the player.

Tips

The Gender Change Potion, alongside the use of the Stylist NPC and dressers, allows the player to change every visual aspect of their character.
Due to the variety of crafting ingredients required, it may be more practical for an early-game player to simply create a new character with the other gender instead.
Gathering all of the ingredients can be made a trivial task with an herb farm, should the player require multiple.

Trivia

The Gender Change Potion and the Garland are the only items to require every type of herb in their recipe.
The sprite contains the colors pink and blue, which are associated with girls and boys respectively in the United States, the United Kingdom and some European countries.
