Mythril Ore belongs to the second tier of the early Hardmode ores. Upon the second altar broken, either it or Orichalcum Ore can spawn in the cavern layer. Mining Mythril Ore requires a Cobalt/Palladium Pickaxe or better.
As with all early Hardmode ores, decreasing quantities of the ore spawn with every third altar broken afterwards, it is immune to explosives, and it can be obtained from Hardmode crates.

Notes
- A Mythril Bar, which has a sell value of 44 SC, is made out of 4 Mythril Ore, each with a sell value of 11 SC. Therefore, if the player sells Mythril, it does not matter whether it is in bar or ore form.

Trivia
- Mithril is a fictional metal in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth writings, where it is a rare and high-quality material used for weapons and armor. It has become a widely used material in fantasy works, particularly video games.
- Mythril was first called Mithril in a teaser, but this spelling had to be changed, likely for legal reasons, as the name Mithril is trademarked by Tolkien's estate.[1]
- Placed Mythril Ore appears to be a recolored version of Iron Ore.
