The appearance of the Gelatin Crystal in-game.

The Gelatin Crystal is a Hardmode boss-summoning item that summons Queen Slime when used. It can only be used in The Hallow or Underground Hallow, at any time.

Crystal Shards have a 1/50 (2%) chance to be replaced by a Gelatin Crystal upon generation.[1] A Shard will drop a Crystal when broken.

Notes

  • Gelatin Crystals can be detected by the Metal Detector.
  • The Gelatin Crystal's glow cycles between pink and blue, unlike Crystal Shards.
  • Gelatin Crystals will generate in worlds created before 1.4.0.1 and after, so it is unnecessary to create a new world to obtain them.
  • Unlike Plantera's Bulbs, there is no minimum distance restriction between two Gelatin Crystals. The distance is only restricted by the generation of Crystal Shards.
  • The Gelatin Crystal will still be identified as a Crystal Shard on the minimap.
