Unholy Arrows in action.

The Unholy Arrow is a pre-Hardmode arrow. It can pierce 4 enemies, and its damage decreases by 5% per enemy pierced.

In addition to being crafted, Unholy Arrows are dropped by the Eye of Cthulhu in worlds that generated with Corruption. Furthermore, they can be purchased from the Arms Dealer at night for 40 CC once the Eater of Worlds or Brain of Cthulhu has been defeated. During Hardmode, they become available during the day as well.

Tips

  • Unholy Arrows have high damage, only being beaten by Hellfire Arrows in pre-Hardmode.
    • Compared to Hellfire Arrows, Unholy Arrows are better at dealing with spread out enemies or enemies in a line, such as in the Old One's Army, while Hellfire Arrows are better against compact crowds of enemies such as in the Dungeon or against worm enemies such as The Destroyer.
    • Unholy Arrows can be bought in pre-Hardmode, however, making them easier to get.
  • Jester's Arrows can pierce more enemies than Unholy Arrows, but have lower damage and a greater damage drop-off per hit (10% as opposed to 5%), and are harder to farm once Unholy Arrows can be bought.

History

  • Desktop 1.4.1: Applies a 5% damage penalty to the next hit for each enemy a projectile pierces.
  • Desktop 1.2:
    • Recipe changed; now requires 5 Wooden Arrows and produces 5 Unholy Arrows, instead of 3 each.
    • Stack limit increased from 250 to 999.
  • Desktop 1.0.5:
    • Unholy Arrows can now be purchased from Arms Dealer at night after killing the Eater of Worlds.
    • Recipe changed; now requires 3 Wooden Arrows and produces 3 Unholy Arrows, instead of 2 each.
