User:Verocan
Hello there, welcome to my page. I’m Arnoud (Verocan) and I have played Terraria for 1400 hours so far. In all this time I have found that certain challenges made the game incredibly fun for me. On this page you can find these challenges
For more experienced players these class ideas can add a new challenge. The idea is that a smaller selection of Weapons and Armor is available in order to promote the use of less used Items. This in turn, often results in unique gameplay otherwise not experienced. These classes aim to have a high correlation of used weapon types, while not having too severe power loss during any part of the progression. This holds for all sub-expert gameplay, but some classes might really struggle to progress through certain parts of expert+ difficulty. In a lot of cases there is no easy access to an early game weapon. This is intended. Use your wits to outsmart those monsters: Sand and lava hurt! And besides this, enemies do not like to be caged in. Okay enough talk, the rest is up to you!:
Note: This guide is still a work in progress. Some classes still have to be added. The classes that are shown below, however, are working as intended. Some extra notes and flavour text will be added in the future. Also, there are some similarities with the following guide: Guide:Weapon Playthroughs.

It is advised to play in The Crimson for the early regeneration from the Crimson armor and also for the Fetid Baghnakhs. The Corruption does, however, provide the Worm Scarf, which is also very good.

Notes: This class has very strong defense for the amount of range it has. Therefore this is also an easier class. This class is also perfectly usable in a solo playthrough.
Lancer
Difficulty: Normal
The Lancer pierces enemy after enemy, until he has shish kebab. He uses the following items:
- Cactus armor
- Gi(Desktop, Console, Old-gen console and Mobile versions)

The Boomerang class uses the following items:
- Boreal Wood armor(Desktop, Console, Old-gen console and Mobile versions)
- Gi(Desktop, Console, Old-gen console and Mobile versions)

- Light Disc

- Possessed Hatchet
- Paladin's Hammer
Notes: The damage output of this class can be a bit low. It does feature safety in range and high armor, but might struggle to kill bosses solo. Remember that Boomerangs get increased range from Attack speed and Autoswing can be very nice for this class.
Big Balls
Difficulty: Hard
Big Balls needs only three things: His balls. This class uses flails and some big cojones to slap his enemies senseless. He uses the following items:
- Boreal Wood armor(Desktop, Console, Old-gen console and Mobile versions)
- Gi(Desktop, Console, Old-gen console and Mobile versions)
- Diving Helmet
- Viking Helmet
- Ninja armor(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)

- Drippler Crippler(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Chain Guillotines(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Dao of Pow
- Flower Pow
- Golem Fist
- Flairon
Notes: This class really has a difficult learning curve. Flails are difficult to use and have a long downtime once thrown, making the user vulnerable to counterattack.
Ranged Classes
Robin Hood
Difficulty: Easy
The name Robin Hood speaks for itself. This class may use the following items:
- Fossil armor(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Necro armor
- Adamantite armor
- Titanium armor
- Hallowed armor
- Shroomite armor
- Vortex armor(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Ebonwood Bow

- Hellwing Bow(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Molten Fury
- Pearlwood Bow
- Marrow
- Ice Bow
- Daedalus Stormbow(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Shadowflame Bow(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Phantom Phoenix(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Pulse Bow(Desktop, Console, Old-gen console and Mobile versions)
- Aerial Bane(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Tsunami
- Eventide(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Phantasm(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
Notes: It is a very balanced class and strong throughout all parts of the game. It is however, quite squishy and therefore benefits from having a frontline tank to keep enemies at bay.
Cowboy
Difficulty: Hard
The Cowboy is the fastest gun in the wild west, or at least the one with the worst carpal tunnel. He uses all guns that lack autofire or shoot slow, because he needs to aim. These are the items he can use:
- Goggles
- Fossil armor(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Necro armor
- Adamantite armor
- Titanium armor
- Frost armor
- Hallowed armor
- Shroomite armor
- Vortex armor(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Red Ryder(Desktop, Console, Old-gen console and Mobile versions)
- Flintlock Pistol
- Musket
- The Undertaker
- Revolver(Desktop, Console, Old-gen console and Mobile versions)
- Handgun
- Phoenix Blaster
- Dart Pistol(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Dart Rifle(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Venus Magnum
- Sniper Rifle
Notes: The typical first item is The Undertaker or the Musket. Getting these can be quite challenging. Personally I prefer The Corruption for this class, as the two exclusive items fit the style better. The biggest power drop for the cowboy is early Hardmode. Here he is stuck with the Phoenix Blaster and the Dart Pistol or Dart Rifle until he kills plantera with it. To accommodate for this power drop, the cowboy has access to the frost armor, allowing a bit more tankiness during this stage. When playing this class, you better make every last shot count!
The Gunzerker
Difficulty: Normal
The Gunzerker tries to fire as many bullets as he can. He loves showering his enemies in cold hard lead. The items that the gunzerker uses are:
- Empty Bucket
- Fossil armor(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Necro armor
- Adamantite armor
- Titanium armor
- Hallowed armor
- Shroomite armor
- Vortex armor(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Clockwork Assault Rifle
- Gatligator(Desktop, Console, Old-gen console and Mobile versions)
- Uzi
- Megashark
- Chain Gun
- Vortex Beater(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- S.D.M.G.(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
Notes: Your only pre-hardmode gun is the Minishark. You get this from the Arms Dealer, which spawns after you destroy one Shadow Orb or Crimson Heart and loot the gun that drops from it. This can be achieved by going into the respective biome and bringing some bombs.
Shotgun
Difficulty: Hard
The Shotgun has given up all requirements to aim. He just wants to shoot and be done with it. He uses the following items:
- Night Vision Helmet(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Ultrabright Helmet(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Fossil armor(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Necro armor
- Adamantite armor
- Titanium armor
- Frost armor
- Hallowed armor
- Shroomite armor
- Vortex armor(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Quad-Barrel Shotgun(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Boomstick
- Shotgun
- Onyx Blaster(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Tactical Shotgun
- Xenopopper(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
Notes: Getting the first shotgun from the underground jungle chests is a royal pain in the ass. After that, this class can hold its own. You can consider using the Ale Tosser in the early game, as you clearly have to be drunk to go into the underground jungle without a weapon!

Magic Guns
Difficulty: Normal
This class can use the following items:
- Night Vision Helmet(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Meteor armor
- Adamantite armor
- Titanium armor
- Hallowed armor

Notes: Typically the first weapon will be the Space Gun. The way to get this is by destroying a Shadow Orb or Crimson Heart and then wait for a meteor to fall. Mining the Meteorite requires a Tungsten Pickaxe or better. Don’t forget to bring an Obsidian Skull or an Obsidian Skin Potion, otherwise you might have a bad time!

Luckily you have your trusty Baby Finch (that you became friends with while reading your books in the garden) to protect you in the beginning. You can find the Finch Staff in Living Wood Chests.
