Not to be confused with Moonglow.

The Nightglow attacking Mimics.
The Nightglow is a Hardmode, post-Plantera magic weapon that fires four rainbow-colored projectiles which emerge from the player and home in on nearby enemies. Each of the projectiles ricochets off solid blocks and can pierce and hit enemies three times before dissipating, resulting in high potential damage, but loses 20% of their damage for each enemy struck.[1] The Nightglow's projectiles last for approximately one second before disappearing but have their duration reset upon tracking a nearby enemy. The Nightglow has a 1/4 (25%) chance of being dropped by the Empress of Light.
Its best modifier is Mythical.
Notes
- The weapon is visibly held by the player when selected and provides light.
- The projectile applies 30 ticks[2] of local immunity frames upon hit.[3]
Trivia
- As the weapons that the Empress of Light drops are based on her attacks, the Nightglow seems to be based on her Prismatic Bolts.
- Like the Last Prism, the Nightglow has secret color themes for developers and beta testers. This is triggered by using a specific set of character names:

- In real life, nightglow (or airglow) is a faint emission of light by the Earth's atmosphere which causes the night sky never to be completely dark.
