Using the Proximity Mine Launcher to attack Target Dummies and Skeletons. Note the tripled damage from the stationary mines, how the mines fade into the background, and how they explode one at a time.

The Proximity Mine Launcher is a Hardmode, post-Plantera launcher that fires mines that travel in a short arc, remaining dormant and semi-transparent until a player or enemy approaches, or until a minute passes, at which point they explode. The Proximity Mine Launcher can be purchased from the Cyborg for 35 GC.

The Proximity Mine Launcher uses rockets as ammunition. The mines are heavily affected by gravity and will only travel a short distance before dropping to the ground. The firing player will not trigger their detonation by getting close, although the firing player will take damage if they are within range of an exploding mine. On Desktop version Desktop, Console version Console, and Mobile version Mobile, stationary mines will deal triple its base damage (240 damage).[1] This does not apply to mines that are still moving, and only applies to enemies.

(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) The Cyborg uses the Proximity Mine Launcher to protect himself against nearby enemies.

Its best modifier is Unreal.

Notes

  • Despite the name, it cannot fire Land Mines, which are an unrelated item. The Proximity Mine Launcher can only use rockets as ammo.
  • If multiple mines are stacked on top of each other, then a single enemy will trigger them consecutively. This is because the mines are projectiles which inflict invincibility frames on the enemy. Once the invincibility frame is over (after 0.17 seconds by default), the enemy can take damage again and trigger the next mine.

History

  • Desktop 1.4.0.1:
    • Now does 3× damage when mines are stationary, normal damage when they are still moving.
    • Use time increased from 40 to 50.
    • Reduced the number of active mines that can be active at once.
