You better stay outta my hair tonight, hun. I just sharpened my scissors, and I'm looking for an excuse to use them!

Emote Town Stylist.gif The Stylist during a Blood Moon

The Stylish Scissors are a pre-Hardmode broadsword that have a 1/8 (12.5%) chance of being dropped by the Stylist. Letting go of Use / Attack while swinging the weapon will throw the scissors in the direction of the cursor. The thrown scissors travel forward for 0.25 seconds before sharply dropping down, and can pierce through one enemy before dissipating on the second hit. The weapon and its projectiles both inflict the Bleeding debuff for 4-6 seconds on hit.

Its best modifier is Legendary.

Notes

  • Throwing the scissors has the same cooldown as the weapon's useTime, which can be further reduced by attack speed bonuses.[1]
    • The thrown scissors inflict 10 ticks[2] of global invincibility frames upon hit, meaning with enough attack speed they eventually get capped to 6 hits per second against a single target.[3]
  • The thrown scissors appear to briefly linger on terrain upon colliding with solid blocks, but they do not deal any damage in this state.[4]
  • This content is transcluded from NPCs/dropnote.Since town NPCs cannot be damaged by players normally, external damage sources must be used to obtain this item. The Flymeal(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) is one of the easiest options; other effective options include traps, lava, drowning, lightning, Boulders or Rolling Cacti(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions), enemies, Explosive Bunnies, Land Mines, or the Halloween-exclusive Rotten Eggs (in tandem with Frost armor).
The Stylish Scissors used against Target Dummies. Note the debuff and the ability to throw.

Trivia

  • The Stylist will use this weapon when defending herself.
  • The Stylish Scissors' internal name within the game source code is StylistKilLaKillScissorsIWish, referencing the Scissor Blades from the 2013 Japanese anime television series Kill la Kill.
