The Laser Rifle is a Hardmode magic weapon that fires fast-moving purple lasers which can hit up to three enemies. It has a 1/4 (25%) chance of being dropped by the Wall of Flesh.
Its best modifier is Mythical.
Notes
- Despite its name, it does not count as a gun, cannot receive ranged weapon modifiers, and will not fulfill the requirements for the Arms Dealer to move in.
Tips
- The Laser Rifle is useful against worm enemies due to its high fire rate and piercing.
- The Laser Rifle is fairly mana-efficient.
- While the Laser Rifle deals relatively low damage, its high fire rate can allow it to remain useful even until mid-Hardmode.
Trivia
- The Laser Rifle can be considered an upgrade to the Space Gun, although it cannot receive the set bonus of Meteor armor.
- A rifle is a gun with grooves in its barrel that cause the projectile to spin. However, this detail was often ignored in pulp magazines, making terms such as laser rifle or plasma rifle popular. In real life, a laser weapon would not need to have a rifled barrel, as there is no projectile to be spun.
- The Laser Rifle slightly resembles the Sterling submachine gun used by the armed forces of the United Kingdom over the second half of the 20th century. It has a similar color, barrel, and magazine.
- The player can use the Laser Rifle while sleeping in a Bed. However, firing in a non-horizontal direction will wake them up.
