The Spectre Staff's homing projectiles in action.

The Spectre Staff is a Hardmode, post-Plantera wand that has a 1/20 (5%) / 39/400 (9.75%) chance of being dropped by Ragged Casters in the Hardmode Dungeon. When used, it fires a homing orb that pierces two enemies but cannot pass through blocks.

Its best modifier is Mythical.

Notes

  • The Lost Soul projectile can home in on the closest enemy within a Manhattan distance of 25 tiles.
  • The Lost Soul projectile applies 10 ticks[1] of static invincibility frames upon hit.
  • Like all weapons with homing projectiles, the Spectre Staff's projectiles do not home in on other players in PvP.

  1. A tick is a time unit countable by the software. Most of Terraria's updating logic happens every tick. A tick has the length of 1/60th of a second, hence there are 60 ticks in a second and 3600 ticks in a minute.
