Using the Amarok to attack a Target Dummy.

The Amarok is a Hardmode yoyo that has a 1/300 (0.33%) chance of being dropped from any enemy in the Snow biome, and can also drop in a Corrupted, Crimsoned, or Hallowed Snow biome. It has a 67/100 (67%) chance to inflict the Frostbite debuff for 2–5 seconds upon hit.

Its best modifier is Godly or Demonic. Both modifiers increase the average damage output by the same amount. However, Ruthless might be preferred if the player already has very high critical strike chance.

Notes

  • Like the Cascade, Hel-Fire, Kraken, and Yelets, the Amarok will only drop from enemies that also drop at least 1 CC. Therefore, it cannot drop from statue-spawned enemies, since they never drop coins.

Category: Challenger Challenger

Tips

  • The Amarok can be obtained more easily in situations with large numbers of weak enemies:
    • King Slime summons many weak minions, each of which can drop the yoyo. By Hardmode, the player should have little trouble handling the boss, as well as an abundant supply of Gold/Platinum for crafting the Slime Crown.
    • The Goblin Army provides a lot of enemies as well and most of them can be killed quickly with Hardmode gear, perhaps with the exception of the Goblin Warlock.

Trivia

  • In Inuit mythology, an Amarok is a gigantic wolf spirit, a lone hunter that is said to attack those foolish enough to hunt alone at night.
