Terra Blade
Terra Beam
Terra Beam
The Terra Blade is a Hardmode projectile sword which becomes available after defeating (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) Plantera / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) one mechanical boss.
On the Desktop version, Console version, and Mobile version, the Terra Blade fires a wide green slash wave projectile with each swing. It also has a large aura of energy around the blade when swung, which significantly increases the range at which the weapon can deal damage to enemies, including coverage behind the player. The projectile deals 100% base damage at first and pierces an infinite amount of targets before applying a 25% damage penalty for each target it pierces.[1] The projectile will disappear after 1.5 seconds,[2] upon hitting a solid block, or when its damage falls to 0 after piercing.[3] If the blade, its aura, or its projectile strikes an enemy, a green flash is created.
On the Old-gen console version and Nintendo 3DS version, the Terra Blade fires a green sword-shaped projectile when swung, which costs neither mana nor ammunition, deals 125% base damage, and can pierce through two enemies, dissipating after hitting a third enemy or a wall. The projectile can travel up to 5000 feet (2500 tiles) at a speed of 61 mph. The fire rate and velocity of the projectile can be increased by melee speed bonuses.
On the Desktop version, Console version, and Mobile version, it is later used to craft the Zenith, which is the strongest melee weapon in the game. On the Old-gen console version and Nintendo 3DS version, the Terra Blade itself is one of the strongest swords in the game.
Its best modifier is Legendary.

- (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) The sword's projectile will graphically disappear upon leaving the player's screen but will be visible again if they teleport in its direction.
- (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) The Terra Blade only receives 75% of melee speed bonuses.
- (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) It will always knock enemies away from the player, regardless of the direction it is swung.

Tips
- Due to the fast speed and high damage of the beams, it is very effective to use the Terra Blade more as a projectile weapon than an actual sword. Even without the sword itself, it can still do massive amounts of damage at long ranges without the use of bullets or mana.
- Because the Terra Blade shoots a projectile that can penetrate through enemies, this melee weapon is highly beneficial when fighting against hordes of enemies or for events such as the Pirate Invasion or Martian Madness.
- When seeking to craft the Terra Blade, it is recommended to gradually get all the materials needed as the player progress through the game instead of having to scramble and collect everything when all materials are available.
- Because this weapon has a high rate of fire, damage output, and fires piercing projectiles, it can prove rather effective in the Old One's Army event. Standing right in front of the crystal and shooting projectiles horizontally can easily deal with all the ground enemies, while the constantly-swinging sword will make it harder for the Etherian Wyverns to land an attack.
Trivia
- Crafting the Terra Blade requires obtaining a total of eight different usable swords.
- (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) The Terra Beam is the only sword-shaped melee projectile that is capable of piercing through enemies.
- The color of the Terra Beam's projectiles changes to yellow during a Blood Moon due to its inherent red filtering effects.
- The Terra Blade's functionality is a combination of both of its ingredient weapons, as can be seen by the piercing projectiles that resemble that of the True Night's Edge and the extended melee slash attacks that resemble that of the True Excalibur.
- The Terra Blade itself also bears a certain resemblance to the Night's Edge in terms of shape, featuring a curved blade with holes in its side. (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) Conversely, the projectile appears more similar to True Excalibur's, being straight and symmetrical.
- It is considered the strongest sword in the Old-gen console version and Nintendo 3DS version of the game, tied with The Horseman's Blade.
- On the Desktop version, Console version, and Mobile version, crafting the Terra Blade requires:
- On the Old-gen console version and Nintendo 3DS version, crafting the Terra Blade requires the most raw ingredients of any sword:
- It can be considered to be much harder to craft in the Old-gen console version and Nintendo 3DS version than in the other versions due to needing three Broken Hero Swords and the drop rate being very low (1/250). On the plus side, it can be obtained after defeating one mechanical boss.
- The Terra Blade appears in the video game Dungeon Defenders 2 as a weapon.
