The Mace in use.

The Mace is a pre-Hardmode flail found in Gold Chests located in the Underground. It can be crafted into the Flaming Mace, which inflicts the On Fire! debuff.

Its best modifier is Godly or Demonic. Both modifiers increase the average damage output by the same amount.

Notes

• In Celebrationmk10(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) worlds, the Mace can be found with the normally-incompatible Legendary modifier. The size boost will not take effect, though it is still the best modifier possible.

Tips

• The Mace stays out on the ground if ⚒ Use / Attack is held after it is thrown, making it a good weapon to farm early enemies.
• The Mace is a powerful early-game weapon, as it excels in keeping enemies away.

Trivia

• Even though the weapon is called mace, its design is more representative of a flail. It was most likely named this way due to the confusing fact that it is a part of the flail weapon family.
• When the player uses an item that makes melee weapons catch on fire like the Flask of Fire or the Magma Stone, the Mace does not get the sprite of a Flaming Mace and it only leaves fire particles behind. It also does not go out in water.
