The Bubble Gun is a Hardmode magic weapon that rapidly fires a short-range spread of three bubble projectiles per shot. Bubble projectiles linger in midair and dissipate upon contact with an enemy or solid block. The Bubble Gun has a 1/5 (20%) chance of being dropped by Duke Fishron.

(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) Its best modifier is Mythical.

(Old-gen console and 3DS versions) Its best modifier is either Masterful for mana conservation or Godly/Demonic for higher damage output. It cannot get the Mythical modifier due to its low mana cost.

Notes

• In don't dig up(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) and Get fixed boi(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) seeds, the Bubble Gun receives the following changes:
  • Switched place with Aqua Scepter. As a result, it is found in Locked Gold Chests in the Dungeon and Golden Lock Boxes instead of being dropped by Duke Fishron.
  • Damage decreased from 70 to 5.
  • Has 20 armor penetration.
  • Value decreased from 25 GC to 8 GC75 SC.

Tips

• Its rate of fire, combined with its damage, gives it among the highest magic DPS in Terraria but at the cost of a very short range. Its effectiveness can be further enhanced by utilizing the Ichor debuff, e.g. using the Golden Shower.
• The Bubble Gun has similar function to the Razorpine in single target DPS. The Bubble Gun gives significantly higher damage output and slightly more mana efficiency at the cost of range.
• Because of its short range, spread, and lingering bubbles, it is most effective against large bosses that chase their target, like the Pumpking.

History

 Desktop version

• Desktop 1.4.4:
  • Projectile speed/distance increased from 11 to 15.
  • The bubbles now last twice as long before popping, meaning that more bubbles reach their full range, and they linger longer before disappearing.
  • Mana cost increased from 4 to 5, allowing access to better modifiers.
