A demonstration of the Celebration Mk2 against Target Dummies.
The Celebration Mk2 is a Hardmode launcher that has a 2/9 (22.22%) chance of being dropped by the Moon Lord. When used, it consumes rockets and fires one of seven special rocket types, distinguished by color. The rockets are affected by gravity to varying extents. Although their base damage, critical strike chance, and knockback are identical, they behave differently:[1]
| Color | Effect |
|---|---|
| Red | Explodes upon impact with blocks. 0.33 seconds after being fired, it becomes able to pierce through enemies infinitely. |
| Orange | Travels in an arc relative to the vertical position of the cursor. Creates a shockwave upon impact with blocks. Increases in size as it travels. |
| Yellow | Travels in a straight line (visually zig-zagging) until tapering off due to gravity. |
| Green | Homes in on enemies. |
| Blue | Two are fired at once. Travels in a straight line, in a helical pattern. |
| Purple | Three are fired at once. Fired in a spread. |
| Pink | No special behavior. |
The Celebration Mk2 also has a 1/2 (50%) chance to not consume ammo.
Its best modifier is Unreal. Since it does not benefit from speed modifiers, Godly and Demonic provide the same DPS bonus as Unreal.
Notes
- The Celebration Mk2 does not damage the player.
- While it retains the destructive properties of its ammunition, it cannot place or delete liquids with liquid rockets and is not affected by Cluster Rockets.
- The fire rate of the rockets does not correspond to its stated use time, and instead corresponds to a use time of 8 (Insanely fast) and does not benefit from speed bonuses.[2]
- The projectiles from this weapon cannot be reflected.
- When the ⚒ Use / Attack button is pressed, a random type of rocket is fired. When it is held down, however, the rockets are fixed to cycle through the colors of the rainbow: Red → Orange → Yellow → Green → Blue → Purple → Pink → Red.
- Technically, when the Celebration Mk2 is being used, it spawns a launcher projectile which can deal 100% of the weapon's damage (50 base damage) on contact. The launcher projectile then spawns rockets based on built-in fire rates.[3]
Tips
- Because of its fast fire rate, it is also an incredible excavating weapon, capable of mining large areas out extremely quickly with Rocket II, Rocket IV, or Mini Nuke II – upwards of a thousand blocks every 5–8 seconds depending on ammo. Though it is faster at digging than traditional tools, it suffers greatly in accuracy when compared to the Shroomite Digging Claw, the Drill Containment Unit, or a less powerful launcher such as the Snowman Cannon.
- The erratic rockets in conjunction with the quick fire rate make the Celebration Mk2 excellent at clearing waves of ground enemies (such as in the Solar Eclipse, Pumpkin Moon, or Frost Moon).
Trivia
- The Celebration Mk2 was first teased on March 22, 2018, in celebration of Yoraiz0r's birthday.[4]
- The Celebration used to be dropped by the Moon Lord, but was replaced by the Celebration Mk2.
