Pre-Hardmode items

From Terraria Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Pre-Hardmode items are items obtainable before Hardmode is activated. A world permanently converts to Hardmode when the Wall of Flesh is defeated for the first time in that world.

Compared to Hardmode, a pre-Hardmode world has fewer obtainable items. This list is provided to assist players of pre-Hardmode worlds in determining which items are available to them.

Tools

Pickaxes

Pickaxes are tools that can be used to pick up most terrain blocks. They may also be used to remove grass, and destroy planted tree saplings. Their tier defines the type of blocks that can be mined as well as the number of hits it takes to remove a single block.

Axes

Axes are only used to cut down trees, cacti, and Giant Glowing Mushrooms. Wood and platforms have to be removed with a pickaxe. Chainsaws function the same as regular axes, while hamaxes function as both axes and hammers.

Hammers

Hammers are special tools that create slopes, half-tiles, and break background walls.

Hooks

Hooks are tools used to latch the player onto target surfaces.

Fishing poles

Fishing poles are used for fishing.

Keys

Keys are used to open locked chests.
