Using the Topaz Staff to attack a Target Dummy.

The Topaz Staff is a pre-Hardmode magic weapon and is the second tier of gem staff. It fires a non-piercing yellow bolt (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) and is the most powerful gem staff which cannot autofire.

(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) Its best modifier is Mythical.

(Old-gen console and 3DS versions) Its best modifier is either Masterful for mana conservation or Godly/Demonic for higher damage output. It cannot get the Mythical modifier due to its low mana cost.

Notes

• If the world generated with Copper Ore instead of Tin Ore, then the only way to craft the Topaz Staff is to:
  • Gather Tin Ore with the Extractinator.
  • Mine Tin Ore from another World where it is naturally generated.
  • Collect Tin Ore from slimes.
  • Get Tin Ore and Tin Bars through fishing up crates.
  • Transmute Iron Ore or Bars into Tin Ore or Bars via Shimmer Transmutation.
  • Turn Copper Ore or Bars into Tin Ore or Bars via a Chlorophyte Extractinator.

Tips

• It has slow speed and low knockback, but even with the low starting base mana of 20, the staff can fire (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) 4 / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) 5 consecutive shots.
• Due to its somewhat slow projectile speed, this weapon suffers when facing moving aerial targets, such as the Demon Eye.
