The Amethyst Staff is a pre-Hardmode magic weapon, and is the first and weakest tier of gem staff. It fires a non-piercing purple bolt.

(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) Its best modifier is Mythical.

(Old-gen console and 3DS versions) Its best modifier is Godly or Demonic. Both modifiers increase the average damage output by the same amount. It cannot get the Mythical or Masterful modifiers due to its low mana cost.

Notes

If the world generated with Tin Ore instead of Copper Ore, then the only way to craft the Amethyst Staff is to:
- Gather Copper Ore with the Extractinator.
- Mine Copper Ore from another World where it is naturally generated.
- Collect Copper Ore from slimes.
- Get Copper Ore and Copper Bars through fishing up crates.
- Transmute Tin Ore or Bars into Copper Ore or Bars via Shimmer Transmutation or Chlorophyte Extractinator.

Tips

It has slow speed and low knockback, but even with the low starting base mana of 20, the staff can fire (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) 4 / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) 6 consecutive shots.
Due to its somewhat slow projectile speed, this weapon suffers when facing moving aerial targets, such as the Demon Eye.
