The Emerald Staff is a pre-Hardmode magic weapon and is the fourth tier of gem staff. It fires a green bolt that can pierce one enemy. (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) It is the weakest gem staff capable of autofire, because its alternate-ore counterpart, the Sapphire Staff, does not autofire.

Its best modifier is Mythical.

Notes

If the world generated with Silver Ore instead of Tungsten Ore, then the only way to craft the Emerald Staff is to:
- Gather Tungsten Ore with the Extractinator.
- Mine Tungsten Ore from another World where it is naturally generated.
- Collect Tungsten Ore from slimes.
- Get Tungsten Ore and Tungsten Bars through fishing up crates.
- Transmute Gold Ore or Bars into Tungsten Ore or Bars via Shimmer Transmutation.
- Turn Silver Ore or Bars into Tungsten Ore or Bars via a Chlorophyte Extractinator.

Tips

Due to its somewhat slow projectile speed, this weapon suffers when facing moving aerial targets, such as the Demon Eye.
It will occasionally hit a target twice because of its slow projectiles and ability to pierce one enemy.
It is very useful for fighting hordes of enemies due to its piercing ability.
The bolt will travel at 41 mph until it hits an obstruction or enemy, or until it goes off the map.
