Yoyos
Yoyos are melee weapons that are thrown when used, seeking the player's cursor for a certain amount of time. Yoyos normally have a limited range, being visually attached to the player via string. Yoyos bounce off of enemies on hit.
Several accessories affect the function of yoyos: String increases range, Counterweights spawn a special projectile after hitting an enemy, and the Yoyo Glove spawns an orbiting copy of the yoyo after hitting an enemy. Additionally, Magic String causes yoyos to detach the player and be thrown instead of being retracted. These accessories can be upgraded, combining their effects.
All yoyos deal 25% less damage if at least one solid block is between the yoyo and the player. The remaining spin duration of a yoyo is decreased by 1/3 of a second every time it hits an enemy; a full second if the yoyo has its damage reduced while being out of line of sight.[1]
Yoyos cannot have their attack speed modified; melee speed affects their range instead. A Godly modifier has slightly better crowd control than a Demonic one, but the increased knockback may reduce the number of hits per second. Both modifiers can be regarded as the best. Yoyos cannot obtain the Legendary modifier as it increases attack speed, with the exception of the Terrarian (although attack speed is still unaffected).
Types
There are 21 different types of yoyos, 12 of which are Hardmode-exclusive.

Notes
- Most yoyos have a projectile size of 16×16 pixels, but there are some exceptions: the projectile sizes of Valor, Code 2, Red's Throw, and Valkyrie Yoyo are 17×17; Terrarian and The Eye of Cthulhu are 18×18; and Kraken is 19×19.
- If the player is holding out a yoyo when activating a Teleporter, the yoyo will briefly remain in position before returning to the player.
Achievements

Tips
- The player should attack the middle of a crowd of enemies, as the yoyo will bounce between them. When the enemies scatter, attacking from the sides can make them regroup.
- Attacking a walking enemy from behind will cause it to bounce back into the yoyo, making it take constant damage.
- If the player opens a door, flings a yoyo through it, then closes the door, they can essentially use the yoyo through walls.
Trivia
- Yoyos that are marked with the logo of One Drop YoYos
in the tooltip have real-life counterparts. - In real life, Redigit is a yoyo enthusiast and makes personal use of One Drop YoYos.[2] In addition to their designs being introduced to Terraria, One Drop released real-world counterparts to the Kraken and Terrarian.[3]
