The Stardust Cell Staff in use.
The Stardust Cell Staff is a Hardmode, post-Lunatic Cultist summon weapon that summons a Stardust Cell (a minion version of the Star Cell enemy) that can perform ranged attacks and will teleport to enemies out of range. Like other minions, the summoned Stardust Cell is invincible and follows the player for an unlimited amount of time, unless the player dies, summons a replacement minion, cancels the buff, or leaves the world.
The Stardust Cell's ranged attack consists of firing a mini-cell at an enemy target, dealing 100% base damage (60 base damage). The mini-cell attaches to the target afterward, inflicts it with the Celled debuff, and deals damage based on the number of attached mini-cells over time. A maximum of 10 mini-cells can attach to one target at the same time, and each mini-cell attached to the target deals 20 damage per second for 5 seconds.[1] As a result, the maximum damage is 200 damage per second. Additionally, the Stardust Cell will occasionally fire an extra shot at any target the player is attacking, without interrupting their standard rate of fire, even if the Stardust Cell is already currently attacking that target. After teleporting at an enemy, a Stardust Cell will also instantly fire a mini-cell.
Its best modifier is Ruthless. The Mythical modifier provides the widest array of stat bonuses, but these primarily affect the initial summon rather than the resulting minion. Additionally, minions cannot deal critical hits. The only lasting advantage a Mythical Stardust Cell Staff has over a Ruthless one is knockback.

Notes
- The Stardust Cell's attacks cannot be reflected.
- Any number of Stardust Cells can damage a target at a time; they have no invincibility frames between each other's hits.
- The Cells have a large attack radius that is equal to that of minions obtainable at earlier stages in the game, such as the Hornet, Imp, Sanguine Bat, and Twins.
- Often while the player is traveling across the map, Stardust Cells may seem to be lazily veering away from the summoner towards something off-screen. This is because they have targeted a far-away enemy that is moving into teleport range.
- Shots from the Stardust Cell can never miss until the target is defeated. This is further supplemented by its teleportation, because of this, the cells do not need to aim and can shoot mini-cells regardless of the speed, distance, or the maneuvering of its target as long as it is within teleportation range, which differs from the Xeno Staff: the Xeno Staff's UFOs must catch up to the enemy first before it can fire, which some fast flying enemies or bosses can outrun.
- Damage ticking from mini-cells retains its original pace regardless of when additional mini-cells were added.
Tips
- Although considered to be an upgrade to the Xeno Staff, the Stardust Cells do not re-target instantly after an enemy has been defeated. This means in a horde of enemies, the UFOs are better as their targeting speed is considerably better, making it arguably on par with the Stardust Cells.
- While it generally does less damage when it hits than the Stardust Dragon Staff, the Stardust Cell Staff is more consistent against fast-moving bosses such as Duke Fishron and the Empress of Light and they generally finish fights around the same time.[2][3] The Terraprisma is better than both, with the consistency of the Cells and the damage comparable to the Dragon.
Trivia
- The Stardust Cell Staff can be seen as a direct upgrade to the Xeno Staff as both spawn minions with high accuracy and will never miss.
