Not to be confused with Wandering Eye Fish.
The Wandering Eye is a Hardmode flying enemy that spawns on the surface at night. It behaves like a larger Demon Eye, as it pursues the player, bounces off blocks, and is highly susceptible to knockback. However, when its health is reduced to below 50% (150 / 300 / 450), the Wandering Eye's pupil will peel off and reveal a mouth with a row of sharp teeth, similar to the Eye of Cthulhu's second phase, and gains increased movement speed, but its behavior otherwise remains unchanged. On the Nintendo version, it can pass through blocks and becomes completely resistant to knockback in its second form.
Similarly to Demon Eyes, Wandering Eyes will flee when the sun rises before despawning when off-screen.
Notes
- (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) The Wandering Eye counts towards the Demon Eye Banner.
- Wandering Eyes become much more common during the night of a new moon.[1]
Trivia
- The
Bestiary entry for the Wandering Eye: "That suspicious feeling of being watched may very well come true in the dark of night, when Cthulhu's minions roam the skies."
