Buggy is one of three critters that occasionally spawn in the Jungle or Underground Jungle biome when a player breaks a plant, the others being Sluggy (more common) and Grubby (most common). Buggy is the rarest of the three. Buggy has only 5 health and no defense, and can be damaged by other enemies and players.

Buggy can be caught with any Bug Net to be carried around in the inventory and released later, or crafted into animated decorative furniture (Buggy Cage). Once crafted, Buggy cannot be released again, unless the furniture item is de-crafted via Shimmer(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions).

Buggy can be used as bait for fishing, with 40% bait power.

Buggy can be spawned by the Buggy Statue, however statue-spawned critters cannot be caught with any Bug Net, and will disappear in a puff of smoke when the player attempts to do so.

  • The chance for a Jungle bug (Grubby, Sluggy, and Buggy) to spawn per destroyed tile is 1/80 (1.25%) when destroying short Jungle plants (including Jungle Rose, Jungle Spores, and Nature's Gift), 1/40 (2.5%) when destroying tall Jungle plants, 1/250 (0.4%) when destroying Jungle vines, and 1/10 (10%) when destroying large Jungle plants. It can only spawn if there are no more than a total of 7 other Jungle bugs currently nearby.[1]
    • When a Jungle bug spawns in this way, it has a 2/3 (66.67%) chance to be a Grubby, 1/4 (25%) chance to be a Sluggy, and 1/12 (8.33%) chance to be a Buggy.

Trivia

  • Since Buggy is the rarest Jungle bug critter, it is the only one with a Green (Rarity level: 2) rarity, while Sluggy and Grubby have Blue (Rarity level: 1) rarities.
  • The BestiaryBestiary entry for Buggy: "A vibrant beetle-like bug. Fish are extremely attracted to these."
