The Kobold Glider is a Hardmode enemy that spawns during the Old One's Army event. It spawns during Tier 2 during waves 5–7, and Tier 3 during waves 4–5.

When it is close to or below the player or the Eternia Crystal, it will briefly spin upwards before lighting its fuse and diving towards its closest target, effectively turning itself into a homing missile. Upon contact with the player, Eternia Crystal, or solid blocks, it will detonate with a radius similar to that of a Grenade. The explosion cannot destroy tiles.

The Kobold Glider requires 100 kills to be awarded completion of its corresponding banner, as opposed to the usual 50 kills.

Notes

  • While a Kobold Glider is pursuing a target, it will exponentially gain speed over time, making it increasingly more difficult to outrun the longer it is left alive. Gradually, its speed will outmatch any means of player movement and make it impossible to avoid.

Tips

  • Due to them also exploding upon contact with blocks, making a ceiling above the Eternia Crystal can be a useful strategy.

Trivia

  • The BestiaryBestiary entry for the Kobold Glider: "Taking the explosive approach to a whole new level, Kobold Gliders soar the skies, seeking to bring death from above."
