The Present Mimic is a Hardmode, post-Plantera enemy that spawns during the Frost Moon event. It acts like normal Mimics do, but passes itself off as a present instead of a Chest. Present Mimics may spawn at any wave, instead of wave-appropriate enemies, if there are currently less than four Present Mimics around.
Killing a Present Mimic during the Frost Moon event will add 20 / 40 / 50 points to the final score.[2]
Notes
- Present Mimics are rarer than the other enemies spawned during the Frost Moon. The reason for this seems to be that all Mimics initially behave like still objects. This causes the Present Mimics to spawn off-screen and, unlike the other enemies, stay there until the player gets near it or somehow damages it.
- It will chase the player until killed, given the player does not lose sight of it.
- Present Mimics spawn during all waves of the event, unlike other enemies, which are specific to certain waves.
Tips
- Present Mimics drop large amounts of Hearts. This can be very convenient during the fight.
- Present Mimics do not run away once night is over like some other Frost Moon enemies do. Be mildly wary of these when picking up leftover drops after the end of the event.
Trivia
- It is the only Mimic to exclusively appear in an event.
- It has the highest damage of all Mimics, including the Biome Mimics.
- It is the only event enemy to not appear in the status message when there is a new wave.
- (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) Reaching Wave 15 of the Frost Moon activates one day of Christmas, which (once daytime begins) does satisfy the conditions for the Present Mimics to drop Presents.
- The Bestiary entry for the Present Mimic: "Surprise! The most unexpected gift this holiday season, the Present Mimic is a nicely gift-wrapped box of teeth and death."
