The Martian Engineer is a Hardmode, post-Golem enemy that appears during the Martian Madness event. Martian Engineers have the ability to build Tesla Turrets around them.

Notes

  • Tesla Turrets can only be spawned within a 5×5-tile rectangle around the Martian Engineer. They require a solid tile with an open space of 3×4 tiles and no lava above it.[1]
  • A Martian Engineer can only create a new Tesla Turret if there are no more than four Tesla Turrets per Martian Engineer currently alive.[1] For instance, if there are currently two Martian Engineers alive, then a maximum of eight Tesla Turrets can be present at a time. The limit is not tied to the respective Martian Engineers, i.e., one could spawn seven Tesla Turrets and the other only one.
  • After constructing a Tesla Turret, the Martian Engineer will wait 3 seconds before constructing a new one. This cooldown is reset to 1 second whenever the Martian Engineer takes damage. It is unable to spawn a Tesla Turret while Confused, and the cooldown for spawning one is set to 1.5 seconds when the debuff ends.[1]

Tips

  • Over the course of the event, a large number of Tesla Turrets can appear if Martian Engineers are not properly dealt with. To avoid getting overwhelmed by their attacks, the player should focus on defeating Martian Engineers first before anything else.

Trivia

  • The BestiaryBestiary entry for the Martian Engineer: "Martian soldiers who lack combat ability may instead be deployed for their mechanical aptitude, constructing turrets on the field."
