"Vampire Miner" redirects here. For the Solar Eclipse enemy, see Vampire.

The Undead Miner and Vampire Miner(Old-gen console and 3DS versions) are enemies that appear in the Cavern layer and follow the Fighter AI. Undead Miners wear a Mining Helmet, which provides a small amount of light around them. This light makes them much easier to find and can sometimes reveal sealed caves, much like blooming Blinkroot. Undead Miners can open doors. On the Desktop version Desktop version, Console version Console version, and Mobile version Mobile version, they can only do so during Blood Moons or in Graveyards.

Killing them is the only way to obtain the Bone Pickaxe, Mining Shirt, and the Mining Pants. The Mining Helmet can be obtained from Undead Miners, but can also be bought from the Merchant for (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) 4 GC / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) 8 GC.

It is one of the few entities that can be detected by the Lifeform Analyzer(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) or its upgrades.

Notes

  • (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) The Vampire Miner does not take extra damage from the Stake Launcher, unlike the Vampire from the Solar Eclipse, even though they are both vampires.
  • (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) Vampire Miners do not wear the Mining Helmet and do not drop it. However, they still give off light like the Undead Miner.

Trivia

  • The BestiaryBestiary entry for the Undead Miner: "There's evidence of spelunkers having explored the caverns in the past... as well as evidence of them having died doing so."
