The Bunny is a town pet. It arrives at dawn (4:30 AM) the day after the player uses the Bunny License, which is purchased from the Zoologist for 5 GC. The Bunny does not count towards the NPCs' "crowded" limit and hence will not affect NPC happiness, although it does count as a regular town NPC for the purpose of the Pylon network. There are six breeds of Bunny, with one randomly being chosen when it arrives.

Sleeping Bunny (Angora breed).

The only requirements for the Bunny to appear is the use of a Bunny License and the presence of a valid house. The Bunny's house can be changed, as with any other NPC, however the Bunny can share the same house as another NPC. Like other NPCs, the Bunny also require a valid standing point in the house (a home tile). It may not be able to share a house with another NPC if the house is too small.

The Bunny can be talked to with the ⚷ Open / Activate button, like any other town NPC. It will offer a "Pet" option, which places the player directly in front of the Bunny when selected, and displays an animation of them petting the Bunny, an effect that is a purely visual. It only works if there are at least two flat tiles on the same level as the Bunny in front of it. Using any item, taking damage, or closing the dialogue window terminates the animation.

Like the Angler and the Princess, the status message displayed when the Bunny is killed is "<name of Bunny> has left!". It will respawn within the next days, and may respawn as a different breed.

• The Bestiary page for the Town Bunny depicts the Angora bunny breed by default.
• The Bunny's quotes reference the lack of popular onomatopoeia for bunny noises in written English (unlike "Meow" or "Woof" for cats and dogs, respectively).
• Despite the real-life Flemish breed of rabbit being one of the giant breeds, the sprite is the same size as the others.
• The "White" variant is a reference to the real-life Florida White breed of rabbit, with red eyes and an albino fur pattern to match.
• The "Silver" variant is a reference to the real-life Standard Chinchilla rabbit breed, named after their resemblance to a Chinchilla.

  • In a similar way, the "White" bunny appearance has red eyes, possibly referencing the very same rabbit.
• "Daisy" is a reference to Doomguy's pet bunny.
• "Donnie" may be a reference to Donnie Schenck from AMC's Preacher, where he was known as the "Bunny Man" for the noise he would make upon having his wrist fractured.

• "Flappie" is a very common name for pet rabbits in the Netherlands, and may be a reference to the song with the same name by Dutch comedian Youp van 't Hek.
• "Flops" may be a reference to King Bumi's pet goat-gorilla Flopsie from Avatar: The Last Airbender.
• "Hazel" may be a reference to the protagonist of the book Watership Down, a rabbit named Hazel.
• "Inaba" is a reference to Hare of Inaba from Japanese mythology.
• "Jazz" is likely a reference to Jazz Jackrabbit, the titular character in a series of platformer-style computer games of the same name from 1994.
• "Joshua" is likely a reference to the character of the same name from the role-playing video game series Trails. Furthermore, both "Renne" and "Estelle" are possible names for the Cat and Dog, respectively, likely referencing the names of two other characters from the same series.
• "Kaguya" may be a reference to the Rabbit Goddess Kaguya Ōtsutsuki from Naruto.
  • The name Kaguya itself usually refers to the main character of The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter (also known as The Tale of Princess Kaguya), Nayotake no Kaguya-hime. Also, in Japanese culture, there's an association between rabbits and moon.
• "Lola" is a reference to Lola Bunny, a character from the movie Space Jam.
• "Max" is a reference to the "hyperkinetic rabbity thing" from Sam & Max. It could also be a reference to the children's show Max & Ruby.
• "Oreo" is a reference to the popular cookie brand of the same name, of which the breed, Dutch, is the same color.
• "Peter" may be a reference to Peter Rabbit, the titular character in the books by Beatrix Potter.
• "Presto" is a reference to the Pixar short of the same name.
• "Roger" is a reference to the title character in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
• "Thumper" is a reference to the rabbit character from Bambi.
