Sentry-summoning weapons are summon weapons that spawn secondary characters which automatically attack enemies within range. Sentries are stationary, and have a close-range or projectile attack. Sentries cost mana to summon, with no continuous cost while existing. They cannot be hurt or killed, and they exist until the player summons a replacement sentry or exits the world. Unlike minions, sentries persist after the player dies, but only last for a maximum of 10 minutes per summon.

Sentries sold by the Tavernkeep can only be summoned during the Old One's Army event and require 10 Etherian Mana to be summoned. After successfully completing the event at least once in a given world, the player can use them freely outside of the event like normal sentries.

The best modifier for sentry-summoning weapons is Ruthless.

Types

There are 17 different types of sentry-summoning weapons, 12 of which are Hardmode-exclusive.

Notes

  • By default, a player can only have a single sentry summoned at once. Various boosts can raise the player's sentry capacity ("slots"), allowing the same sentry to be summoned multiple times, or several different sentries to be summoned. Using the proper armor, accessories and buffs, the maximum number of sentries can be raised up to 5.
  • Non-Tavernkeep sentries can be used as usual during the Old One's Army event.
