(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) The Blood Butcherer attacking a Shark and a Target Dummy, inflicting one "stack" of the Blood Butchered debuff for each hit. Note how this deals 4 damage per second up to a maximum of 20 damage per second.
(Old-gen console and 3DS versions) The Blood Butcherer attacking Target Dummies

The Blood Butcherer is a pre-Hardmode sword crafted from Crimtane Bars.

On the Desktop version Desktop version, Console version Console version, and Mobile version Mobile version, striking an enemy with the Blood Butcherer will inflict the Blood Butchered debuff, dealing 4 damage per second for 9 seconds and causing enemies to visibly bleed. Similarly to the Tentacle Spike or Bone Javelin, repeated attacks will cause the debuff to stack up to five times, for a total of 20 damage per second.[1]

The Blood Butcherer's Corruption counterpart is the Light's Bane, which is smaller and somewhat weaker but with higher speed, and it is one of the key ingredients in crafting the Night's Edge.

Its best modifier is Legendary.

Notes

  • (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) The gouts of blood from the debuff will be replaced by clouds if the Blood and Gore option is turned off.

Trivia

  • (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) Because the "Blood Butchered" debuff cannot be inflicted on players, it uses the icon of DistortedDistorted as a placeholder.

History

  • Desktop 1.4.4:
    • Now deals damage over time to struck enemies.
    • Sprite updated.
